If, like me you love LK, you may have noticed something when “Devil” is mentioned in a title. If you’ve read the others in the series, you may have a inkling why those particular Ravenels are mentioned. With the exception of a cameo by Garrett and Ethan, and mentions of Pandora and West there is not a Ravenel to be found in this book. So my pet peeve, the spoiler, the reason I didn’t love this book as much as the others? This book has nothing to do with the Ravenels! There. Specifically It Happened One Autumn and Devil in Winter. Both generally speaking – because they’re all great – but also to have Devil in Disguise make sense. That’s Annabelle, Lillian, Evie, and Daisy whose books, Secrets of a Summer Night, It Happened One Autumn, Devil in Winter, and Scandal in Spring need to be read. So, just for your info, while you don’t have to have read the Ravenels series before this book, you will need to know the backstories of Kleypas’ Wallflowers. So keep reading at your own peril! Seriously. Because the reason, and my biggest pet peeve about this book, is a spoiler. It might actually be a good thing if you haven’t read the Ravenels before because… well, I can’t tell you yet. You really don’t need the Ravenels’ backstories to be able to read this one. But, if you haven’t read been binging the others (either as soon as they come out or, if like me, you discovered this series later) not to worry. It was a slow steady transition and rooted in so many unique experiences that he and Evie shared. I also liked how they didn't show an overnight change in him as that's never realistic.

And by the time I finally ended it, I was more or less satisfied with the redemption arc. But chapter after chapter just got me more and more invested.
